CHANGE: INvisible Writing Day one

Today Space08 did another experiment, by squeezing the lemon juice into a lid, we then used a cotton bud to soak up the liquid. We used this liquid to write a hidden message. We can't see it at the moment, because its INVISIBLE. Next (This Friday day TWO) we will use an Iron (heat) to REVEAL our hidden messages (pictures) to each other. This is day ONE of our experiment.

ICT - Computers - How we use computers to enhance our writing; Well last term we really wanted to learn how to green screen. Green screening is about cutting out a picture and adding it to a new background. Whaea Liz found out that we can use a program called pizap to do this the easy way. This means we don't need a green screen background. Follow these easy steps; 1.go to www.pizap.com 2.Edit a photo 3.upload a photo (preferably the background first) 4.Add a cut out - upload another picture (the picture you want to edit onto the background) 5.Use the Green circle (paintbrush) to highlight the parts you want to show up on the background, you can rub it out by clicking the red button to rub out any mistakes. 6.then click finish 7.Lastly just download it to save it onto your computer not the save button. Download first then save it into a file. We have 2 experts in our class: Taureikura and Ahina. Ask them if you need help. Here are some examples of our work
If you think we are A M A Z I N G please leave us a positive comment; thanks!

What is yeast?

This term (term 2) we are learning about CHANGE - chemistry around us. We are looking at reversable and irreversable changes. So far we have baked bread and we have made jelly. In this example we looked at "what is yeast?" and how yeast works to make dough rise. We loved making and eating our bread.
Mum and Dad ask me about how I made the bread;
We also made jelly. This was fun, we learnt that jelly can dissolve in cold or hot water but it will dissolve faster in hot water because heat makes the parts of water move faster. Our jelly pictures will be uploaded at another time: sorry.

Term 2 : Leisure and Work

Last term we did a lot of work on leisure and work and then we looked at "what a balanced life?" might look like. It was an amazing opportunity to share with Tyreece what his life after school looks like. For example, Tyreece is learning to play guitar once a week with a tutor, and sings with his Dad in their family band. He owns a couple of horses and we went to his house (farm) to watch him ride his horse. But first he had to brush his horse (work) before riding it (leisure). It was amazing! We think that Tyreece has a balanced life because he works hard to look after his horse and then he gets to ride it, he plays guitar and sometimes plays a tune or two for us to enjoy. He also plays sport and is learning how to be a team member, plus he is learning how to stay fit. WOW - TUMEKE KOE TYREECE, from Space 8 children.
